Pomegranate takes an important part of the fresh fruit exports in Turkey as it is one of the home countries for pomegranate. Main pomegranate production is done in the Mediterranean, Aegean and South-East Anatolia regions around Finike, Kemer, Antalya, Izmir, Denizli, Gaziantep and Mersin. Because of its natural features, Pomegranate can be stored up to 4-6 months. Hicaz type of pomegranate is exported the most and the other export types are grouped according to the size and the color of it and the softness of the seeds.
